India Plans Major Multi-Sectoral Business Mission to US: Piyush Goyal

Date:

India is planning to take a large multi-sectoral business delegation to the United States, potentially in the first quarter of 2027, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said during his visit to the US.

Goyal called for deeper engagement between Indian and American businesses and highlighted opportunities for investment, technology and commercial partnerships.

Speaking to Indian-Americans at an event organised by the US Indian Community Foundation in Chicago, Goyal said a large business delegation had originally been planned during his current US visit.

However, the programme was dropped because of time constraints linked to his participation in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Milwaukee.

The minister said the proposed delegation could now travel to the US early next year and would include businesses from multiple sectors.

Goyal also discussed increasing India’s participation in trade fairs across the United States.

He said the government would explore opportunities for additional trade fairs in Chicago and other parts of the country while encouraging greater participation by Indian businesses in existing American trade events.

The objective is to provide more platforms for Indian companies to showcase their products, services and capabilities.

During his Chicago engagements, Goyal met American companies, investors and business representatives.

He said Invest India would assist US-based companies and Indian-American entrepreneurs interested in doing business in India.

According to Goyal, investors can also connect with Indian government officials to address issues related to establishing or expanding operations in the country.

Addressing the Indian-American community, Goyal encouraged participation in India’s economic expansion through investment, technology and knowledge.

He highlighted India’s domestic market and growing international trade relationships as areas of opportunity for US businesses.

The minister also pointed to the complementary strengths of the two economies, highlighting US capital and technology alongside India’s ambitions and young population.

Goyal travelled to Chicago after representing India at the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Milwaukee.

The meeting covered issues including forced labour, the future of the World Trade Organization and state-supported excess production capacity.

India and the US have commercial ties across goods and services, technology, manufacturing and investment.
