India’s Roshibina Devi secured a silver medal in the women’s 60kg wushu event at the Asian Games 2026 after losing to China’s Xiaoyu Zhang in the final on Thursday.
The medal marks Roshibina’s third Asian Games medal, continuing her strong record in the continental competition.
Roshibina began her campaign with a 5-0 quarterfinal victory over Macao’s Chu Man Sin, securing a medal.
She then defeated Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in the semifinal to reach the gold-medal bout.
In the final, China’s Xiaoyu Zhang won 2-0, leaving Roshibina with the silver medal.
Roshibina previously won bronze at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and upgraded it to silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
With her latest silver, she has now collected three Asian Games medals.
India has also reached 11 wushu medals at the Asian Games overall, comprising one gold, two silver and eight bronze medals.
Roshibina’s silver contributed to India’s overall medal tally at the 2026 Asian Games.
India has so far won 14 medals — one gold, six silver and seven bronze.
Her achievement adds another podium finish to India’s campaign across different sporting disciplines.
Roshibina comes from a farming family in Kwasiphai, Bishnupur district, Manipur. She trains in the Women’s Sanda 60kg category at SAI NCOE Imphal under coach Maibam Premkumar Singh.
Her achievements include the Arjuna Award and the International Wushu Federation’s Female Wushu Athlete of the Year (Sanda) title.
Roshibina’s participation in the Asian Games followed a change in India’s squad after trial winner Divyanshi Choudhary was ruled out due to injury.
